Title: Fatboost 3 Clone w/mid scoop?
Post by: nineknives on August 25, 2014, 12:11:58 AM
Hello pedal gurus,

I was hoping someone with more knowhow and wisdom might be able to help me make a gift for my bandmate.

He plays a Fatboost 3 through a Deville and mentioned wishing the FB3 had more gain and mid/high control instead of bass/high.  Would any of you be able to help me figure out how to mod a FB3 clone to get more high gain and also swap the bass & treb controls for mid & treb controls?

Thank you!

First the pedal will probably have to be traced. I don't know if that has ever been done.
Possibly, you could just figure out the cap responsible for the Bass boost and switch it for a smaller value. But, it depends on what kind of tone stack is in there.

Be careful though, Mike Fuller may threaten to take your house for modding one of his ingenious designs!  :P

All jokes aside, it does appear that this one has been traced. Just do a google search and the schematic is readily available (although I'm not sure if it's been verified)...
