Title: Too much bass in the Deadringer 2 boost section
Post by: thegreatwent on August 30, 2014, 07:50:26 PM
Anyone else experience this?

The boost is super thick, which is kinda fun, but it's a little much for my tastes.

What components can I swap out and with what values to reign in the low end.

Thanks!

Post a link to the schematic you might get more replies.

I'd lower that 47uF cap in C18.  Try a 22uF or 10uF.  I've seen those values used in JFET boosts successfully.  Don't be afraid to take it even lower if you need to.

Thanks! Will try this.

I would go further: reduce C18 to 1uF or 2u2. Alternatively, reducing C19 to 10n will also reduce a little bass.

I socketed C18 and put in a 1uF cap. and it sounds much, much better.
Thanks!

Cool!  Glad that worked out.
