Title: Weener Wah is volume swelling not "wah" ing
Post by: bassybeats on September 02, 2014, 06:03:39 AM
So just finished my Weener Wah board and used the Dunlop inductor from another wah and a Dunlop HotPotz II 500K (already had it).

It has True Bypass and the pedal passes signal but when you engage the foot pedal it only volumes swells. I realised from another post that the dunlop inductor needed some trickery to get the rights pins lined up. But it didn't change anything.

Have I wired the Hotpotz wrong or is the inductor knackered..? Any quick voltages or places to check..?

Hi,

Not sure if this is what is causing your issue, but there is a mod to turn a wah into a volume pedal by lifting the 4u7 cap (C2 on the weener wah schem). Perhaps have a look there, it might be not soldered correctly or reversed.

Check the cap, per drolo. Then if that doesn't fix it, check the inductor- you might need to rotate it. If that isn't it, check the transistor. Failing all that, you have a short or soldering error. Good luck!
