Title: Mini Amp Build
Post by: Guybrush on September 18, 2014, 11:04:08 AM
Hey all

I'd love to have a go at building a mini guitar amp/head akin to the Zvex Nano. Does anyone know of any projects available for such a thing?

Thanks!

Hi,
There are a lot of this projects:
Superfly or Murder One or Vibratone from Frequency Central,
http://www.frequencycentral.co.uk/?page_id=11 (http://www.frequencycentral.co.uk/?page_id=11)

I build a JCM800 based amp

there are the jj's subminiature amps,
http://www.jjs.at/electronic/class_a_subminiature.html (http://www.jjs.at/electronic/class_a_subminiature.html)

And there are other amps here:
http://amps.zugster.net/projects/subminiature (http://amps.zugster.net/projects/subminiature)

take a look here:
http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=248.0 (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=248.0)

Madbean also has showed some boards, something like a ac4, and another one.
I'm waiting to see those amps, because the board already looks amazing...

You can choose the kind of amp you like and try it in the submini world, like my jcm.
I also have seen a submini champ, and a submini princeton.
The output you can choose between SE for something like 25mW to 250mW or go PP and have almost 1W.

The power supply can be a 12v wall wart, with a SMPS to increase the voltage, or use a real transformer. The high voltage current is very low.

If you need some information, I learned a lot from my builds, and can help you.
Cheers
Thomas

Hey Thomas

Thank you for the detailed reply.
I'll look into you're suggestions and will probably drop you a message to ask a few questions if that's ok?

Thanks again, greatly appreciated!

No problem! I'd somehow missed that too.

I'll keep a lookout!

Cheers.
