Title: tantalum caps in The Rat
Post by: jtn191 on May 16, 2011, 02:34:34 AM
Hi, I heard from a builder I admire that he used "all tantalum caps except for the 100uF in the power supply" in his Rat. I want to do the same but I've never used tantalums before...as I understand it, they're polar...and C12 should remain electrolytic when using this layout http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=41884&g2_serialNumber=1

I'll share my thoughts until someone with more knowledge comes along   :D tantalums are polar, generally the positive side goes to the higher voltage side. You might want to read though this thread concerning use of tantalums over electrolytics and visa versa.
