I finally got a hold of a guitar that I have wanted for years. It's a 2000 Goldtop 57RI that a buddy of mine has owned for at least 10 years. I used to own a 2002 Goldtop but sold it to finance another guitar. Part of the reason that I sold it was that I liked his a lot better.
It's stupidly light for a LP without weight relief holes. I haven't weighed it, but I seem to remember it being just under 8 lbs. Whatever it is, it's really comfy. It's also the best sounding modern LP I've ever played. I've played a handful of standards and Historic reissues and this one is my favorite so far. Aesthetically, I'd prefer a sunburst, but the sound and feel is the most important thing.
No really good pics at the moment, but this is good enough to show it. It doesn't look a ton different than other Goldtops. :-)

It has some prototype Gibson pickups it in. I am not sure exactly what they are, but they sound great. I remember when they went in the guitar and they sound better than the '57 classics that were in there before.
Obviously, I am a little excited. I've had my eye on this one for a while.

Sure is, beauty! Sigh.... 8)
Very very nice indeed 8)
totally and completely excellent! Those zebra pups look perfect in a gold top.
Totally jelly over that one, nicely done.
That looks near mint 8) Nice.
That's one hell of a score! The gold might grow on you after a while.
Looks a bit weird with those pickups. I can see its pole pieces ...
Superb score. Goldtops always look great under stage lights and everybody and their mother plays sunbursts. I'm very jealous. Those zebras look really good, I've never liked chrome covers on a goldtop.
It's very cool to find "the one".
It's a beauty!
Congrats dude.
Love goldtops, congrats.
Thanks guys. It's actually not near mint condition, it's got a small ding on top, but that doesn't really bother me with this one. It's got a Murphy aged lightweight tailpiece and aged bridge so the wear looks like it fits.
As my UK friends would say, I'm chuffed to bits.
Wow sweet!

+1 on the zebras.
Congrats!
Nice goldtop man. I know what you mean about different pickups sounding better......I replaced the stock p90 neck position one in my 60s tribute goldtop with a Seymour Duncan antiquity 2 mini humbucker......it makes the p90 sound like crap. Now I just gotta fork out the 120 bucks for the matching bridge one.
That is a sweet looking Les. Congratz.

I love it. Always had a thing for gold tops. The only two LPs I'd like to have are the black 70s custom and a goldtop with p90s. Congrats
That's one hell of a beauty! Sweet!
That is one hell of a gorgeous guitar! Great score there!
That is perfection.
Hell yeah! Now we gotta get Brian a Historic to complete the circle of awesome. ;D
I'm not generally a goldtop lover, but something about this one I find very attractive.
