Title: Solar Flare
Post by: Jakes Dad on December 26, 2014, 07:31:30 PM
Was really hoping for a few more posts after Leevibe's Class of '77 (Woof!) but I guess somebody's got to jump in...

Here's my fresh new Nucleon Solar Flare (version 1) (modified Keeley Fuzzhead) in a Mouser Trapezoid Hammond box. Sanded the top of the box flat before adding graphics with transfer paper (touched up the lettering with a fine sharpy- damn my hands shake) then hit it with a couple coats of satin clear coat.  Build is straight up by the BOM with the addition of a GuitarPCB 3PDT board and pot condoms.  First plug in was a real downer (no fuzz-no bypass) until I figured out that I had very diligently and carefully reversed the tip and sleeve on the in jack - doh!  With that fixed I set the trimmers at about 50% - sounds so good I'm not sure I'll mess with those again.

Here's the face:

That looks fantastic Chuck. I love how perfectly sanded the top is and the chamfer around the LED.

Great to hear people are building these :) the photo won't show though (takes infinitely long to load)?

Very nice in and out. Those trapezoid boxes are really cool, too. Plenty of room on top for I/O jacks and power.
