Title: Transistor matching?
Post by: Haberdasher on June 14, 2010, 12:00:00 AM
Hi guys

I'm building my first fuzz circuit  (big muff pi variant) and I wanted to ask if it's a good idea to try and find 4 trannies with hfe's that are pretty close to one another.  Does it matter?

Also, I was reading somewhere about a month ago that people put them in order of lowest to highest (I think) but now I can't find where on the interwebz I found that discussion.  Does anyone subscribe to that theory?

thanks everyone

Hey,

when I rebuild my BYOC Large Beaver (Big Muff Pi) to Violet Ram“s Head specs, I found this post on the BYOC forum very informative.

He also writes about the transistor gain in each spot. Maybe this can help you out.

Is it ok to link to other content here, Brian ?

I took my schematic from here:

And this guy has some nice info as well:
