Title: SHO - Single Sided Etch - PCB Mount Everything
Post by: rullywowr on January 19, 2015, 01:39:19 AM
I hate off board wiring. This project has almost none!

I started a member project in the other section and this is the result. I will be sharing the etching artwork and BOM there hopefully tomorrow.  It is possible!

I don't etch much lately but wanted to give this idea a go with PCB mounting everything.  Knob from SRC customs, flat top blue 3mm LED, Neutrik Jacks, I powdercoated this enclosure myself a while ago in blue dormant sparkle. Here she is...

Nice bit of layout and design there.

How much stress is put on the board with this arrangement?

Awesome!

I could never get board-mounted pots AND footswitch to work. The heights are different. How did you manage?

Looks like he made some stilts for his pot... great idea.

Love it Ben.

Thanks guys!

Exactly this.  I used some "stilts" for the pot. I think if I used a low profile 3pdt this would not be required.

The PCB isn't on much stress as I secured the parts before soldering.

It's great not having to do offboard wiring!

Yes! Now to mount that 9v...hehehe

They sell extra-long board mounted pots, right? Is that one of them?

PCB 9V would be great!

The pot is a standard 16mm right angle...I soldered some legs on it to extend a wee bit.

I've gone towards PCB mount everything on all my 1590A builds, so much easier to put together.

For the Pots i use these: http://www.banzaimusic.com/Alpha-16mm-Long-Legs/  (http://www.banzaimusic.com/Alpha-16mm-Long-Legs/) the only place i've found near the UK for them so far.

For anyone who wants to try to build their own PCB mount SHO, the build doc (including etching artwork) is located here:
