Title: Boost before fuzz...to do it or not?
Post by: MarkL on January 29, 2015, 04:07:30 AM
I was going to do a simple multieffects pedal similar to Analogman Sunlion with a fuzz face going into a range master.  But after seeing the Beavis Audio Fuzzlab, I thought it might be neat to put another boost before the fuzz...I thought perhaps something similar to SHO.  But I've always run my guitar directly into a fuzz circuit to have full interaction with the circuit's potential for tonal subtlety...and am a little concerned that putting a SHO-type device first might have a deleterious effect on the fuzz stage.  Any thoughts?

Rangemaster driving a BMP is an awesome combo. Probably would be the same into a Fuzz. To get the best of both worlds do a switch that let's you change the order.

Suck it and see, especially with a muff as it compresses the hell out of your signal, so a boost before can have very little effect.
