One of my guitarists wants to replace the DPDT switch in his MXR GT-OD with a 3PDT. He's not sure how to connect it, where the leads go. I don't have the pedal in front of me, so I can't easily surmise how he should do it. Thoughts? Thanks, gents.
well, you should probably start with a schematic if you can find one. Otherwise, you'll need to do some work with an audio probe and a DMM to figureout which wire is the in and out one.
If it uses a DPDT and has an LED, chances are that it's a flip flop based transistor bypass. That means it's not really true bypass, so you'll have to work out the bypass configuration on the pedal, and likely have to jumper out some parts so that you can bypass the buffered flip flop and get right into the circuit. That's why a true schem can be helpful.
