Title: compressor volume level?
Post by: thesameage on March 20, 2015, 07:44:16 PM
IS there a "right" way to set the volume on a compressor? I have a jmk mini-engineer's thumb with a trimpot for volume. Should I try to set it so that it's not that much of a "boost" when clicked on? Or is it all really just to your preference and there's not rec'd way to do it?

It's all preference as far as I'm concerned.

For me, it's about levelling. I leave my comp on pretty much all the time, so it keeps my levels steady. Some people use them as taste type effects, more like a booster with flavour and impact on the sound rather than just more volume.
