Post by: Donleo on March 30, 2015, 03:50:27 PM
Just a heads up, that there's going to be a presale on wire @ guitarpcb soon.

Never used it, is it as good as his email claims?  Any opinions?

I shared it on facebook but, just because: someone from Spain that would like to share shipping costs?

Good stuff. I wish it was a little thicker, but its still the best I've ever used.

Thanks guys, I'm used to 22 gauge UL1569 wire, Berry's best appears to be 24 gauge - I'll give it a go - why not...

It's the best I have ever used. They don't make it anymore, so he makes a presale to buy enough for them to make it. I made sure this time that I don't run out.

Barry's wire is the best, pre-tinned, flexible enough to bend where you want it and rigid enough to hold its shape. 6-colors available at a discounted $1.69 for 10ft. Barry just posted that he is at 35% of what he needs to submit the order to the manufacturer. This wire is out of production, american made and they only produce it for Barry, but he must order a minimum to get it. This is great wire.

Thanks for the heads up guys...i've been using a large ass spool of non-prebonded 24 gauge which works well but is a pain to tin etc.

How does this compare to Small Bear?  I've only used SB's wire...which is great too.

Sorry for duplicate post....

SB wire is $0.10/ft in 50 foot lengths and $0.06/ft in a 1000 foot spool.  Is barry's that much better @ $0.16/ft?

I used both, SB is a good wire, but is a piss-off when it snaps. This wire never does me wrong. Its strong, doesn't frey and is shapeable. Get some!

I still have enough, but can always use more. Shipping to Europe kills the deal most of the times sadly (about $50 last time, IIRC). If any Dutch people are ordering, I'd be up for sharing shipping costs. PM me if interested.

Good enough for me.  I'm down to try something new.

I have not tried it but your praise is reason enough for me to try it. I'm running out of regular wire anyways and if it helps to get the order running, why not?

I always mess up with stranded wire. Usually trying to figure out what I did wrong moving the board around and the stranded stuff starts coming apart. Now if I was a better builder maybe I would think it's the cats meow. I have some and it is good, just would rather not use stranded.

I like it because It flexes like stranded but the strands stay together like solid.  No fraying.  It's the best of both worlds.  It is Especially useful when threading it through pads in a PCB.  If you haven't tried it, you will like it a lot. Beginner and experienced builders alike will benefit from it and notice an immediate difference i think.

Solid is easy to work with but does have a tendency to break after too much flexing.

I have used it and it is great. If you like stranded pre bonded is the only way to go. I have a bunch of Barry's wire and its great.

I really like it. I bought a lifetime supply of wore from chromosphere or I'd buy more. I still have quite a bit of Barry's hookup already also.

This stuff is awesome.  Everytime it comes up for sale I get 20' of each color.  Holds me till the next sale.

Barry @ GPCB needs another 10% to submit the order. If you want in on the $1.69/10ft now is the time.

yeah it is really great to work with.  as someone esle also mentioned, i do wish it was slightly thicker, but even still it stands out imho.
