First a bit of posing for you guys hahaha:

Got a Squier VM Mustang Sonic Blue the other day - can't seem to find one fault with this guitar. Had expected a million problems but I cannot be able to find any. Sounds GREAT, plays great, the volume knob has a fantastic taper - great for swells, the tremolo system is fabulous, and it works soooo well. The guitar stays in tune very very well, I am surprised at how well. The thing is, I've found this to be true with all Fender vibrato systems - if you abuse the tremolo bar and it goes out of tune, for the love of god do not touch the tuning pegs, no!, just dick with the tremolo bar some more! It's that simple. After a phrase that I've been using the bar for, I just use it some more after, and eventually it will come back in tune perfectly. The much much worse scenario is - you're playing, you're out of tune, ah shit!, Imma gonna tune that guitar right away. No. Just dick with the bar until it's back in tune.
All in all, huuuge value for money, this guitar. Unmistakable surf sounds, I have a fender inspired custom amp with spring reverb and I can just play a surf rock playlist, play along, and not ever worry whether or not would I be able to replicate any of the sounds - it actually excels at those whacky hawaii-ish out-of-phase sounds. These Duncan Designed pickups work for me perfectly.
I hope more people have had an experience this good with their VM offsets. Cheers!
P.S. There will be a slew of video demos soon.
That is a beautiful guitar Marko! Congrats.
Steve
Very nice! I love sonic blue.
Why were you expecting "a million problems?"
Thanks!
That's a good question bcalla, dunno really, I have a friend, more of an acquaintance really, who is really into offsets and he had commented on this model on a domestic forum and wrote all the worst things possible haha. When I tried it, I expected all of the caveats of a cheap guitar with a floating bridge to have but none were there. I love it!
Very nice Marko. Squier has upped their game substantially in the last decade, especially with the VM and CV series. I'm actually a little surprised that Fender keeps those lines going, as they must be eating into the MIM Std sales (that's the reason they killed the Pro Tone series, which was one of the best Asian made guitar series of its time, and quite possibly ever). That being said, CVs are creeping up into the MIM price range, and they probably cost less to make, so maybe not so surprised.
I really need to post a NGD thread soon.
Congrats on the new Mustang! An MIJ Mustang is actually the only guitar I have. I've thought about modding it, trading up to a Fender with a longer-scale neck, etc. but at the end of the day it just works for me and is great quality to boot. Looks like the Squire VMs are filling the niche that the Japanese-made Fenders did in the '90s!
NICE! I really like that color too!
Very nice. Bet that's fun to play.

My pawn shop Sally Special (http://juansolo.co.uk/misc/Guitars/sallyspesh1.jpg) (though technically not a VM it is offset and certainly modified).
I have been so impressed with the Squire Vintage Modified and the Classic Vibe series. They are built great and I think run laps around any modern fender MIM guitar. I have the Classic Vibe Strat and a Vintage Modified Jag that I absolutely love.
I love the look of yours, its hard to resist getting one myself.
Cody
I didn't know there was a squire mustang. Very cool.

Thanks dudes!
juan yours looks fantastic, I actually think I've seen it before and praised it's looks before. :)
Great to hear that Cody, I've had a CV Strat as well earlier, along with the J Mascis Jazzmaster - wonderful guitars that I regretted selling. But that regret has been substiantialy lessened when I bought this Mustang and in retrospect I actually think it was for the best - it led me to the Mustang which is just completely awesome to me and will serve me well for so many things I think.
midwayfair, the demo has been recorded, I was getting used to the scale so it was just fiddling with some chords and I was trying out a surf tune, kinda, my friend will mix the sound from the mic and the video from his two cameras and we'll have the video up in a couple of days, will make sure I post it here for your enjoyment.
Very nice!
But you don't look much like your avatar. :o ;D
it's the nose isn't it...ah...the people from the Balkan region and their noses :D
Congrats Marko. Nice indeed. Another fan of VM and CV models. I have a VM p-bass that is really fantastic.
I'm really happy about this thread for 2 reasons.
1. Marko shared his beautiful new Mustang with us. I like everything about it.
2. I'm hearing such great things about Squire VM instruments. I am in the market for a new bass. I decided that I should get a Fender - probably a Jazz - but I can't see spending the $ for an America Deluxe or even a Standard. That the Squire VMs are so highly thought of is very good news to me.
Regarding the nose, my father was Italian so I have no further comment...
:D
Awesome! You won't be disappointed with that bass. It looks like they really have upped their game a lot.
Everybody has. Pedals that Digitech is releasing these days are jaw dropping. I've played some Hotone pedals the other day and was shocked with the sounds and the quality. It's a good time to be GASing for stuff, it rarely goes wrong :D
sweet looking guitar brah. i always had a thing for sonic blue.
now i'm tyring to figure out what stuff i could possibly sell to snitch me up a vm tele...
It's a beauty for sure. I was gasing for a G&L thinline Tele for a while now. Maybe I will pull the trigger in June ::) But good to hear that Squier is stepping up their game.
I have to admit though that my first thought was the same as culturejam's though... you don't look like your avatar. ;D
Here's one video, we tried to showcase the pedals in a more conventional scenario and the video that's more far out sound-wise is to follow.
I played the neck pickup for the first example and for the second...not sure, might have been the neck also but I am not sure. The video show the sound of the neck pickup very well I'd say.
Really impressed with this Eko delay by Hotone, it sounds amazing, as does the rotovibe. The looper is pure perfection. I don't detect the pt2399ness in the delay, I really don't think it uses that chip. I prefer the sound of this Eko little thingy to any of the sounds that I could get with my DL4. Strange, but I do.
Wonderful demo and it sure sounds great. When you mentioned earlier that you were shoked by the sounds of the Hotone pedals, I thought it was in a bad way. As I just got my Wally yesterday I was kinda frightened. Glad to hear you ment the opposite. So far, it's a great little box of fun!
Here's a full-length video :)
It was improvised all the way, I was getting accustomed to the scale, yadda yadda, whatevs whatevs, here it is!
Awesome video my friend and great playing!!! :D
