Title: LED Wiring
Post by: mbass on February 08, 2016, 11:42:54 AM
Hello all!

I am working on my first vero build, a buffered splitter pedal that does not use a foot switch. Easy enough, but I'm going to wire an LED to turn on when the pedal is plugged in. I know the positive end of the LED gets wired to the 9v on the power jack via a resistor. My question is where do I need to wire the other end of the LED?

do you mean "turn on when you plug in DC?" then you just connect the negative end to a resistor (4k7-10k usually) and that one to the GND lug of the DC jack.
if you mean "turn on when you plug in a guitar cable" then you want to use a stereo jack. Hook up the neg. end via the resistor to the ring contact of the stereo jack. when you insert a MONO cable, you will shunt ring and sleeve closing the circuit.

hope that helps

That is exactly what I needed to know! Thanks for your help!

Oh, missed that you already had your resistor between 9V+ DC supply and the LED anode. In that case, there's no need for the resistor between cathode and whatever comes then.
