Just wondering if anyone knows for sure that the Boss DD2 was a PT2399 based delay? Also curious if anyone has ever made a pcb project out of it?
Who said that it was? It is digital and it is a delay, but it is not a pt2399. Google has the schematic floating around if you're interested!
It's definitely not. The DD-2 and DD-3 are actually exactly the same pedal. At some point the components dropped in price quiet a bit. Boss chose to rename it at opposed to dropping the price and keeping the same name.
I don't think there is any way to do a diy version of a boss digital delay. There is some proprietary components that aren't available on the diy market. There are some very nice PT2399 delays out there.
Definitely not a PT2399. It's an actual DSP (chip set).
Looks like I was completely misinformed... Found the schem, quite a bit more complex than I anticipated. I think the rumor started with speculations about the Cornish T.E.S. (which appears to be a $1000 modded DD2).

You could hack a PT2399 in there if you wanted, it'd function a bit different but might sound close enough.
