Title: Sonice Reducer
Post by: cornelius on March 20, 2016, 05:17:17 PM
Hello everyone,

I think I did not install the TL072 in the right way.
So it turns quite hot and I have almost no Audio Signal but a loud noise.
I can change the sound of the noise with the OSC Gate, or with the RES and SAMPLE RATE.

There is a small dot on the chip but not a sign on how to put like on the big LM324.

THANKS!!!!!
Cornelius

If there is no notch on the chip, then the dot indicates pin 1.

I see, but how do I know where to find it on the board?
I only have a notch marking...
THANK YOU!

The notch on the silkscreen on the board indicates pin 1. If you use a socket (and you should), the notch on the socket should match the notch on the silkscreen. Many pcbs will also use a square solder pad instead of round for pin 1.

Okay!
So I now changed it, but the loud noise still exists.
Do you think the IC is broken? Or are they protected against such stupid mistakes?
I could buy a new one in my city...

Sounds Luke you've got a grounding problem, and the chip may be toast.

So, finally I sorted it out.

I dont know why, I did this, it s just too stupid.

I put on a VAC 9 Volt instead of DC.

The loud humming / noise sound is gone, but the small chip TL072 get still hot and i only hear a very quiet signal but no effect of changing sample rate or resolution.

did i fucked it up entirely?

sorry for my english, i am from germany

replaced both ic s, put on the right power suppy in !!!!DC!!!!
and it is working like a charm!
just got to figure out how to trim the osc and it is all perfect.

THANKS for your nice pedals!

PS maybe you add the info about the ic layout in the manual (bought it from musikding.de)
