So I am making my first battery only Ge fuzz face...all my other builds have used external power. In the past I've used a 100uF filter cap which has worked perfectly well and the tone has been solid. For this battery-only build, though, I am planning to NOT include a filter cap, since all the old schematics I've looked at for 9V battery only devices seem to not use one. What effect, if any, will this have on the tone of the circuit? Is there any benefit to including it? I'm using quite high gain germanium transistors (Q1= 120, Q2= 255) and I wonder if having a filter cap may help battle possible oscillation or any other sort of noise that those transistors might introduce...
