Title: Polarity of 1uF caps in Green Bean
Post by: MilkyWayAudio on April 27, 2016, 03:16:00 AM
I only seem to have polarized 1uF caps, can someone show me how to determine the orientation for all 1uF caps needed to get a working pedal? Thanks,
Patrick

what are you building?

the 1uF caps in the green bean are non polarized film caps rather than electrolytics. So you can put them either way.
If you need to use electrolytics, make C8 + side facing down (to pin 7 of the IC) and C10 + facing left (to R15). I'm not so sure about C2, but if I had to guess, I'd put in in with + side to Q1 (+ on the right).
Still, better to use film caps there.

Hook up the power supply and measure the voltage on both pins where the 1uF cap would go. Put the + side in the pad that shows the highest voltage.
