Title: Re: Choosing Solder
Post by: K3yPr0gg3r on May 21, 2016, 10:27:13 PM
Hi,

I don't remember what video tutorial it was, but someone suggested using AWG 18 60/40 rosin flux core solder, and that's what I bought. It's been working well, but I need some thicker solder especially for PCB switches. I know some use Kester. Sometimes solder is listed in inches, and sometimes in AWG. What gauges should I have on hand, and where should I look. Purchased mine through Newark.

Thanks

I like Kester eutectic blend, which is 63/37.  For thicker stuff, I use 0.031" for thinner stuff, I use 0.015", 0.020" or 0.025."
