Title: LaVache (Les Luis) Diode Clipping problem.
Post by: fman7 on July 27, 2011, 03:55:21 AM
Hi,

just finished the Lavache pedal, sounds great, but I'm not hearing a great deal of difference between the different diode clipping selections.  All the wiring/soldering checks out fine.

Maybe they are too subtle for my distortion ravaged ears?

Would appreciate any opinions.

thanx

Frank

Weird you should say that because I finished mine not too long ago and thought the same. I have only played with it once, hooked up to the test rig. Maybe I need to get it out and give it another go, but I don't remember hearing a huge difference.

It's not a huge difference but it should be noticeable. I think I mentioned in the build doc the possibility of substituting a different diode in one position. Two of the positions on the toggle switch should be quite noticeable, though.

The last 4 years of gigging have probably taken their toll on my ears, I already have ringing in my left ear a lot of the time, so my hearing is probably not the best  ;D

I'll have to go back and test it out again soon, and try out some different diodes.

Try a BAV99 for Z3, that's what the stock unit uses  ;)
