Title: Glam bias voltage
Post by: Dawnofzion on September 20, 2016, 02:51:49 AM
I finished up a glam build this evening and tried to bias the pedal.  The lowest I could get the voltage was 7.3v.  I couldn't get it down to the specified 6v.  I tried the pedal and it seemed to work ok.  I ended up using a bourns 3386 trimmer that is 50k.  Could this be the problem?

I would test the trimmer out of circuit if possible

It's a bit unusual for a 50k trimmer to not be enough to bias, but going up to a 100k should solve the problem. To satisfy my curiosity - where did you get the 2N5457 from?

I got mine off ebay...bit of a newbie and its happened with a couple jfet builds, have wondered if its due to the transistor being el cheapo. ..
