I'd like to build a loop switcher with just two loops solely to compare two pedals. It seems simple, one 3PDT to switch between loop out and bypass and another 3PDT to switch between the two loops. Am I missing anything? Better way to do this? Suggestions? 8)
you are right. that should work perfectly
This is basically what you described:

instead of fuzz face and tonebender in/out just put the respective in/out jack.
However, I would leave of the bypass switch entirely. that way there will always be one pedal in the loop, but if you put that one in bypass itself, there will be unaffected signal coming through.
that way, you'll safe one clunky 3pdt and wiring will be way easier.
Very easy to build and I personally like keeping the master bypass switch. Depending on how "nice" you need it to be (component quality, finished/unfinished enclosure, etc.) you could probably build one for between $20 - $40
I know this forum is all about DIY and I do have plans to build a couple of these myself but, I also have one of these that I bought a while back. Works great and the price is pretty nice.

To get more elegant with it use a non-latching foot switch for the A/B and a combination of microcontroller and relay or MOSFET switching.

Damn, I love building my own but at that price... plus the extra DC out jacks... and it looks nice. Hows the quality of the footswitches? Any issues with popping?
I've only used mine a few times but I've never noticed any issues with popping.
And yeah, the extra DC outs are a nice touch.
you can build this for much less than 53$. The most expensive parts are the enclosure and the switches. for that money you could go for relais bypass with soft-touch switches and high quality jacks too. Just sayin'
