I'm looking for a circuit that will provide a non-clean boost. I want a little color and grit, but not so much that it could be classified as an overdrive or distortion. The fewer knobs the better. What projects should I be looking at?
I built an Acapulco Gold a while back. It might be a little dirtier than you're thinking, but it sounds nice.
A copy of the Southampton Fifth Gear which I believe is the same or almost the same as the Earthquaker Speaker Cranker... it's a modified Electra Distortion.
I've definitely looked at the Acapulco Gold and Electra variants. Isn't the Acapulco brutally loud? I've seen people saying you can drive speakers with it. I'll look into the Fifth Gear.
