Title: Bass Compressor?
Post by: PaxWorks on August 08, 2011, 02:36:31 AM
A friend of mine want a compressor for his Bass rig.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience using a DIY Comp for Bass guitar?

I'm thinking I may build the MORC from guitarpcb.

you could build an Orange Squeezer (Cupcake) and incorporate some suggested mods for bass that tonepad lists. to correspond with the madbean build doc, you could do the following:

1. Change C6 to 1uF
2. Change C7 to 10uF
3. Change R8 to 200k

I also know people who use the stock OS on bass, and I plan on building one for my rig.

Ian

EDITED: #2 Has the correct part, thanks for catching the mistake Misha.

That should be C7, not C8.

I would also try increasing C2, probably to 1uF. Changing R8 probably isn't necessary.

i etched a few of Jimmy's layouts for the 1590a OS so maybe I could give the extra to my bass player. Thanks for the mod suggestions!
