Title: LowRider need 2N5457 substitution
Post by: Lionspaw on January 30, 2017, 07:01:48 AM
Hey all,

May be a stupid question, but I'm trying to get my parts together to have a go at building the lowrider (2015), and I can't find 2N5457s anywhere, or at least nowhere that will ship to Australia. Apparently they're no longer made.

So I need something else I can put in here - I've seen others talking about 2sk30s but I wanted to check if this is the best option for the 2015 pcb and if there's anything I should know before giving it a go?

At this point, I'd get an SMD to THD converter.  The PCBs can be had on eBay for nothing, and the JFETs themselves (MMBF2457) aren't awful.

I'm in the USA, but I offer this:  http://pcb.delyk.com/utility-boards/55-jfet-smd-to-thd.html#/5-jfet_options-mmbf5457

I think someone in another forum had the same problem in Australia and found someone local who had something similar.
