Title: Truest TS808?
Post by: Tuxedo3 on February 13, 2017, 12:17:37 AM
Interested in building a TS808 but I want it to be as true as it could be. Any PCB suggestions out there?

The 'Grean Bean' pcb at the store page is based on the 808, with pretty good documentation about how to make it stock... have you checked it out?

I think that pretty much all DIY tubescreamer boards are true. The difference between the 808 and TS-9 is what, 2 resistors? The hype is to what constitutes the truest tubescreamer, or what constitutes the truest 4558 IC, is probably 2nd only to the fabled Klon diodes. The only reason why so many DIY board sellers offer tubescreamer boards is because everybody wants to build one. So all the sellers would be stupid if they weren't going for a piece of that market.

why not build yourself? pcb or perf
a mini tubescreamer like below

if use tayda 9mm on board pots, just cut the tab, so like the pots in right  ;D

I don't think anyone includes the JFET switching, so none of them!

And everybody knows that tone is the switching setup.

+1

If you want to stay "true" to the original then you have to include the JFET switching instead of true bypass.

I like the Aion Stratus board since it lets you do a whole bunch of on-board mods. It's definitely worth checking out.

Are we going to have a good old larf over the true-bypass switching craze that was started specifically by tubescreamer alternatives?
