Title: Hipster Won't Bias
Post by: johnk on March 05, 2017, 06:13:59 AM
this is a really strange one for me. i've built more than 500 different pedals now, and many fuzz faces (both PNP germanium & NPN silicon) that have all sounded great, and for some stupid reason i can't get my hipster's bias down to 4.5V. i socketed the two transistors and have tried a ton of different ones. all of my transistors were checked with my peak atlas DCA55 to be at spec and the 25K trimpot still only adjust from 9V down to 8.98V on all of them.

anybody have any idea as to why this is happening? i even went to the trouble of removing all of the parts and replaced them with measured tested & ones to make sure that i didn't have a faulty component, but i can't figure this out for the life of me.
