If you don't mind a 2399 style I think the GuitarPCB D'Lay does a good job.  For the number of parts and size (1590b) it produces a lot.  1776 Multiplex Echo is nice also IMO but we could be on different sides of the spectrum on what our idea of clean/strong is LOL.

I think the deep blue delay is the best sounding for the circuit size.

Dirtbag with the modifications sounds really good. Awuaboy is very clean.

Hear are my favorites,

-Hamlet (you'll need to etch it or have someone etch it for you) - my go to! Super clean and very versatile.
-Cave Dweller - Nice and clean, can get dark if wanted.
-Deep Blue Delay (Sea Urchin) Pretty standard but sounds great.
-If you're looking for something with modulation I'd go for the MusicPCB Echo Base.
