Title: Current Lover New vs. Old
Post by: JC103 on June 03, 2017, 04:00:42 PM
Has anyone had a chance to compare the old Current Lover with the new 2015 revision? I'm currently doing a shootout with a friends 2015 vs two of the previous iterations (MN3007 @12v). I am finding that the 2015 version does not take dirt pedals and muffs very well. Could this possibly be due to the new opamp output stage? Is it possible to build the 2015 without the opamp output gain stage? Food for thought...

It's possible that I am just not a fan of the JRC4558 as make up gain in this project. I found a video of the new version and it sounds pretty much like the one I had a chance to play. I still prefer my older versions with the transistor make up gain.

In contrast, running my older ones at 12v w/ MN3007 sounds pretty much like this video @ the 3:00m mark:
