Title: Bazz Fuss farty break up
Post by: CCS on June 13, 2017, 09:28:29 AM
He All built a bazz fuss using wiring diagram attached. Checking on youtube on how they sound
this one doesn't sound like anything I've heard, cuts in and out farty kinda break up fuzz sound not the smooth fuzz I was expecting. Can anyone suggest what the problem may be? Cheers PC

Do you have another effect in front of it? These primitive/simple fuzzes can sometimes be touchy about the signal squirted into them.

An example: https://youtu.be/VdJWv4emZdY?t=747

It could also be a transistor bias issue. Read more here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=98579.0

I don't have any other pedals connected I'm testing before boxing up. The link in your second response describes the problem spot on. I'll try increasing the value of resistor and or try changing the transistor. I do like the sounds of these simple old pedals but without the glitches. Thanks for your reply PC

Use a darlington transistor instead of a regular BJT. MPSA13 or MPSA14 are both easy to get. (Or make one with two transistors.)

A regular BJT sounds like trash in the Bazz Fuss.

Mpsa13 worked a charm thanks
