Title: Ping reverb. Cuts out when switching. Bad switch?
Post by: elenore19 on October 28, 2017, 01:23:38 AM
Built my 2nd ping reverb, this time in a 1590G.
When I press the footswitch it cuts the signal for half a second or so.
My assumption is bad switch. But before rewiring it I figured I'd consult the experts.
The signal cuts out for the same amount of time every time no matter if I hold the switch down for a prolonged time or not.

Thanks in advance.

What type of switch are you using? How did you connect it? You are not accidentally switching the ground connection (or the 9v) to the PCB with your switch as well?

I'm using a low profile 3pdt from bitcheslovemyswitches.
I stared at the wiring for a while and I'm almost 100% that there's no ground switching or 9v switching going on.
When you asked that I thought for sure that was the problem, it sure seems like that's what's happening. I'll keep prodding.

I have benched this for quite a while.

I have replaced the switch, and it still doesn't fix the problem. I'm really at a loss.
Here's a picture of the guts.
