Title: Aquaboy -- Can I sub 2n5088 in place of MPSA18?
Post by: elenore19 on November 16, 2017, 03:09:24 AM
Somehow it didn't make it on my order list a while back, but I have a bunch of 2n5088's around..
The only reason I think this would be a good sub is because I found a thread around online that said it might work, but it had to do with a different type of pedal.

Thanks!

Hi, I always use 2N5089 instead for distortion or overdrice pedals, if 2N5088 are used, but I wouldn't on a delay!

2n3904, as well as most BJT, should also work fine. These are used as buffers in the build so it shouldn't be a big deal.
