Title: EQD Monarch - Clone
Post by: lrgaraujo on January 15, 2018, 09:34:01 PM
This is a clone of an EQD Monarch.
Since I had no 2n5457 available but had some 2sk246 at hand (SGD pinout) I designed the board.
Decided to go for the horizontal layout (not very practical, but nice looking IMHO)

It sounds wonderful, with really "natural sounding" overdrive
Guts are rather messy, but this thing is really quiet.

Nice work. I'm a big fan of that circuit as well.

Good build.  I put mine in a red enclosure, as well.  With a name like Monarch (and since it's modeled after an Orange amp), you'd think that an orange enclosure would be appropiate.  I only had a red enclosure sitting around at the time.  You can really get the old Def Leppard sounds (On Through the Night and High 'n' Dry).

Pink wiring is cool!  :)

It's nice to see a etched board with some green meanies.
And some good-old carbon film resistors.

Tiny and nice! I dig the acquisition of Orange's amp control icons for this.
