Hi,
Looking at the Timmy schematic is D1-D7 all the same 1N4001 or are they different?

No, the diodes in the feedback loop of the op-amp should be either 1n914 or 1n4148. Only the polarity protection diode is 1N4001 :)

In theory a 1n4001 could be used in place of a 1n4148/914 type diode. It would give you a slightly different clipping.
