Title: Ground switch LED
Post by: SimpsoniteMG on June 02, 2018, 07:51:36 PM
So I have built a clean boost schematic and pcb through eagle. Easy. The way I built the boost was an input hole, output hole, 9V input, ground and then all the bits and pieces in between. So curiosity is if I want to build the LED onto the board, could I conceivably take the 3pdt switch and hook it into the ground to the LED to switch the whole thing off and go to bypass through the switch? If you look at madbeans tutorial he has the LED outside of the circuit board. I have etched that into the board...but from the switch I would be plugging into a ground hole. I sense this would work but also since I might cause grief.

Any thoughts?

Mike

This is the schematic. So mono in, out and would connect sw1a lug 2 to LED ground.

So then by this picture the ground is the led diode down into the PCB. Logically it should work no?

Yes that switching will work. But your schematic shows the LED directly connected to ground, not switched to ground.
