With all the WordPress trends of huge scrolling pages taking over everywhere, mbp brings you a vintage 2000's style home page (minus Flash content).

Needs more flying toasters, header and footer banner ads, and web-ring banners.
Where's the visitor counter?
I've always been a little curious if there was a reason you don't just use the Projects page as your home page?
Okay, I went ahead and updated it again to make it look a little more professional.
the bean should definetely wink with a mouse-over :D
Three burning Elmos, what's not to love? ;) This made my morning!
The elmos are fantastic
Let's see....
Now it needs a Sign My Guestbook link, a webring banner, and some cheesy horizontal dividers.
Don't forget to make it <blink>Blink!</blink>

Is that OS/2 Warp? I bought that boxed at a Goodwill store for like $10 back in late 90s and installed it on a machine just for giggles.

No idea. It was the first "Enhanced for Netscape" image I could find.
I dig it, keep it coming........ ;)
A blue underlined link to "contact webmaster" could be handy for people having difficulty with the new page.

That's a really good point. Some may not be familiar with this type of website which uses images instead of text to hyperlink to other hyperglobalmegacorp pages. I've added an option to contact me if they have issues.

You are going to have to get a dot matrix printer for your invoices now.

Gotta dig out this old chestnut to get that classic MBP feeling back

Really large graphics should be loaded as multiple tiles. Of course, the fact that at least one random tile seems to fail to load most of the time shouldn't matter. Most users will happily keep hitting refresh until it loads the right way. That's what "Loading image... Please wait.." text is for, right?

Good GOB, I can't believe I forgot autoplay audio. Well, that situation has been remedied. I've made the final tweaks to my opus.
perfection. 13 months ;D I think you do need to have a hidden link though. If you slowly mouse over the whole screen you'll find it. "Teh rabbidts hole" if you will. I want to fall down it.
That must mean that my webpage is either 90s style, or 80s style :)
i feel that some sort of actual crime has been committed here
The song looooool ;D ;D ;D
Glorious! Will have to try to connect to it on my Amiga for the full effect.

Dum dum tish, dum dum tish, dum dum tish du-dum dum tish ! Love this !!! But its not overloud like they used to be back in the days. The site also needs a geocities logo ^^ and a loooooooooooot more comic sans font!
I decided to pull a book off my shelf to see what other nuggets of wisdom I could find. The book is, Web Publishing Unleashed, ©1997. It is cover-to-cover awesome, of course, but perhaps most to the point, it has some summary chapters, like this:

So, what does a perfect web page look like? Apparently, this:

The part describing an attentio-grabbing business page shows a screenshot that probably doesn't fully capture the eye bleed they describe:
"But the most memorable part of the page is the freeware Java applet under the masthead that creates moving waves of text with rainbow colors flowing through them." :o

Best form submission ever.
At first glance I thought that bit read "My favorite porn - My daughters, My dog"
I had to open up my old supermac just to use this page. Also, I did so on a Cardtable, and my eyes were opened.

I really like where you've gone with this page. A few suggested 'improvements' if I may?
- I'm impressed that you've used tables for layout. You could make the page a little less empty by turning on the table borders, and adding some cellspacing and cellpadding to everything.
- The plain background is a little boring. How about making your 'bean' graphic smaller, and tiling it for the background of the page? That could make things really 'pop'.
- It looks like you've got some PNG graphics on the page. What are you, some kind of communist? Please change them to GIF format. GIF format has a patent on it, so that means they work better.
- Links should have a chrome effect bullet point, in GIF format. That's how we know they are clickable. You could bake in a shadow effect on the bullet points, to make them really stand out.
- To roll out this design to the rest of your site, you could use frames for the navigation. Make sure the navigation doesn't quite fit inside the frame, so it will have it's own scroll bar.
- A site this important needs proper hosting, I suggest you look into using something like Geocities.
- Have you submitted it to some of the popular search engines yet? AltaVista, Ask Jeeves, etc?

Well, I'm on the wait list to contact the webmaster. I like teh page but it looks funny on my amber monitor. The music rocks.

Last night I fell asleep basking under the warm glow of my amber monochrome crt, carried away on a midi dream blanket to the land of unicorn tears, moody margaritas, and card table temples. It was lovely.

Has anyone checked that it renders okay in Lynx?

Great question! It depends on what you mean by acceptable:

I used to surf the web comfortably with Lynx (at 1200 baud). Of course, eventually, every website rendered as:
[Image][Image][Image][Image]
[Image][Image]
It became a lot less fun.
throw in a poorly written cgi script or two, maybe a really cheesy flash/shockwave that requires that I download a plugin ... and if you could make it so that it only renders in IE 5 that would be great
There's a lot to consider here. Some really good suggestions.
Here are some possible tweaks: http://www.wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/content.php?theme=2&music=9&url=www.madbeanpedals.com (http://www.wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/content.php?theme=2&music=9&url=www.madbeanpedals.com)

VoPW has one of my favorite guitar solos in it. It's so simple but the kind of thing where you are like "yup, that could not have been played any other way!"
