Title: Fat Pants Jr whine
Post by: soggybag on November 21, 2018, 10:10:38 PM
I just built Fat Pants Jr in a 1590a box. Everything works but I can hear high pitched whine, even when the effect is bypassed.

I'm using a TC1044. I bridged pins 1 and 8. Which helped but the sound is still noticeable. Anyone who built this have any suggestions?

Try another charge pump, must be tc1044scpa, and i once had 5 of them there didnt work properly. Maybe buy a couple from different places. :)

Let us know if it works!

Make sure you have the "SCPA" designation, not the "CPA". Also, where did you get the charge pump from?

Thanks for the replies. Looks like:

TC1044S
CPA

On the chip. I can't remember where I got these, maybe Tayda. Which makes me suspect. I bought some PT2399's from  were bad. I might have a couple spares, let me look.

Actually after a second pass the jumper from pin 1 to pin 8 does work! I swear put the jumper in then checked continuity across pins 1 and 8, but later when took a second look the jumper wire was loose. I fixed the solder joint and everything was good! Thanks again.
