I'm OOTL on these. What are my best options these days?
I've been a pretty consistent user of George L's, but I don't like them for cables I have to plug and unplug repeatedly, like from my guitar to board or board to amp. I like the cable size and I know I can solder them to generic ends, but I'd like small ends as well.
Little help? :)
These are the smallest plugs (http://kmmk.solutions/squareplug/) I've found. I'm planning on soldering them to Mogami W2314, but I don't have any personal experience with them yet.
I've been thinking quite seriously about doing all my future DIY builds with 1/8" mono jacks and inexpensive pre-made TRS cables (they are more common than TS). The 1/4" standard is just too big, IMO. Just stick a buffer in the signal chain and what's the difference in the end? That said, I use a combination of Bill Lawrence and the Planet Waves Tightrope stuff for 1/4". All solderless and low cap cabling.

Why not use the stereo cables for send and return to a looper? Run one cable from the from looper to a pedal and build any needed buffers into the looper? You'd have a modular system and plenty more room to cram stuff into 1590As. Not to mention you could leave out the status LED and bypass switch, as that would live in the looper. There might be enough room to cram an analog flanger in a 1590G with all that room freed up!
While not repairable, I'm a big fan of the rockboard EBS patchleads.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking to make patch cables. The George L's are fine on my board.

I've thought about doing this with BNC cables. Not much smaller on the outside, but a lot less real estate inside the box.
I've also thought about doing a 4-pin Phoenix connector that connects through the bottom plate. I could standardize the location for each box size and then just dock them on a pedal board. I still kind of like that idea but who knows when I'll ever get around to doing it.
Lava are the smallest soldered connectors I know of:

I havent used the soldered ones, but I do use the solder-free Lava Pistons with the mini-ELC cable for my board and they are top notch:

I didn't know Lava made soldered ends. That works for me, I like the rest of their stuff.
