Title: Anybody know where I can get a reliable PICKit 2/3/4 programmer
Post by: Lubdar on November 03, 2019, 04:09:10 PM
Greetings all,
I have looking at digging into switching options via relay bypass, etc, using microcontrollers. I saw the Coda Effects post, and this has further sparked my interest. I was curious if anyone has had any luck with sourcing a PICKit 2/3/4 starter kit. The link to Amazon appears to be dead and some reviews of the kits on there seem to point toward Chinese knockoffs.

Has anyone had luck with purchasing a PICKit programmer recently?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
  Bradford

Why not buy the real thing? MPLabs stuff works great.

I use what is almost assuredly a Chinese counterfit pickit2, but it has served me well (once I figured how to get it to talk to my chips anyway, the ZIF board works for microcontrollers, not so well for EEPROMs)

edit: note this isn't the actual vendor I purchased from, that particular store appears to no longer exist

Ahh thank you both!!!

$15 doesn't seem too bad to see about getting  my feet wet...

I'm mostly curious about relay bypass and other switching solutions.  EEPROM-related works seem a bit out of my league at the moment.
