Title: Compressor Problem
Post by: mjcyates on November 16, 2011, 03:12:07 PM
I have a Ross compressor that I built using a tonepad board that up until recently has been working fine. The other day when I went to play it was not working properly. Signal is still getting through but sound is splatty and inconsistent. Anyone know what could cause this. Bad transistor? Bad chip? Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing I think of is that it's no longer biased. Have you tried adjusting the trimpot?

That was my initial thought as well. I adjusted the trimpot but that does not cure the problem.

Check to see what range of bias voltages the trimmer yields (min to max) using your DMM. This may provide a clue.
