Title: Is there a FV-1 reverb patch like the Catalinbread Topanga? **Now with gutshots!
Post by: Aentons on June 17, 2020, 07:46:09 PM
Anyone know of a patch that emulates the Topanga or does a really good 6G15 spring sound? Not just the builtin type blackface reverb but the standalone units.

Here are some gutshots of a Topanga that a friend let me borrow

It's says "cornerstone" and "by jack DeVille" on the pcb

Also interesting is that it has some carbon comp resistors in it

I like the little socks they put the pots in.

I don't think any of the pics show it but the bottoms are open. I think it's just big heatshrink tubing

Surprised they didn't use long-legged PCB mount pots.

I've only found one FV-1 spring patch, and it was paired with a tremolo (and I wasn't well versed enough with the language to snip one out from the other). I'm not on my home computer at the moment, so not sure if I have access to the file, but I'll dig a bit.

But anyway, given the Topanga itself is an FV-1 effect, it's obviously possible. Just need to figure out a way to replicate what they did.

edit: Ok apparently I attached the .spn file to an earlier post of mine: https://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=28504.msg276515#msg276515

edit again: Original source for the file: http://www.spinsemi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=598#p3175

That's great Thanks! I'm gonna dig into that

Looks like the YouTube demo in the other post went missing. Anybody happen to have the link?

If you quote the message the link is still there in the text,  it just uses the old tags that no longer function
