Title: question about mosfets
Post by: 9Lives on November 28, 2011, 04:53:08 PM
hi. I love using mosfets (520s) as clippers in circuits like the rat, muffs etc. It gives it such a smooths fuzziness I like. Anyway my latest pedal I've built I wanted to squeeze in a tiny enclosure and was wondering that if I drilled a couple holes and mounted the mosfets on the enclosure would it short the circuit? Or if it does would it work bc clippers ground anyway? I'm pretty new to this and just like learning.. Anyway.. Would this work? Thanks in advance!

Generally, you don't want any leads for any parts touching the enclosures.

so the metal top part of the mosfet with the hole in it is conductive? I wasn't sure it it is connected to the leads.

You could give it some tranny trousers and then put a little rubber ring of some sort around the hole to slide the hat up in there....if I understand your post correctly.
