Title: Aion Corona (OD1)
Post by: mattc on October 22, 2020, 02:51:59 PM
I built the Aion corona over the weekend. It sounds really good with the stock clipping diode's. I tried some 1n60 germanium diode's in the second position. I really did not like how they sound. They're just a little bland in the circuit. For anyone else that has built the circuit, what diode's did you find worked well as an alternative?

This might not answer your question, depending on what you think of as "worked well as an alternative", but I built the Corona with the "Tubescreamer" diodes in the second position.  I had done some reading on the history of Tubescreamers and the OD-1 and thought it would be interesting to compare them (sort of) in the same pedal.
Honestly, I haven't done too much playing around with it, but that was the theory anyway  :)
