Title: Full-frequency boost circuit for bass guitar
Post by: benny_profane on November 06, 2020, 09:04:50 PM
I'm building a bass preamp pedal and looking for a full-frequency boost circuit to put in series before the effect input. A simple, one-knob deal would be best. Is there a better option than an LPB-1?

Take a look at the MXR Microamp, very simple and compact, one single op amp, 26 dB boost, non-inverting, and it's flat down to 12.5 Hz at max boost and even lower with less boost.  Electrosmash has a detailed analysis:  https://www.electrosmash.com/mxr-microamp  .  The LPB-1 will also give you ~ 26 dB, but rolls off around 26 Hz, is inverting, and is reportedly more prone to noise.  Either one would work.

I hadn't considered the microamp. That's a good call. I think I'll give that one a shot. Thank you!
