Hi Guys, Thank you so much to everyone who has gotten involved! Everyone here has always been an inspiring bunch of people, but this is a whole new level! I have been spending ton of time on getting this going but hopefully now it will be more maintenance than anything else. I have seen a bunch of amazing looking stuff getting finished here and had a bunch of questions so I am going to do my best to answer them here.
If you have a pedal that you want to submit please send the following to me at pedalsforukraine@gmail.com:
- Please do the profile questionnaire, and send a couple of pictures to go along with it, some builds, your workspace, guitars, pedalboards, just whatever you want that is pedal related.
- Pictures of the finished builds along with a brief description of the pedal and a short video or audio clip (59 seconds or less) to go along with the auction post. Please try to keep the descriptions under 1000. There is a character limit on instagram post and I have a decent amount of procedural stuff that needs to be included.
- Please let me know the geographic location that you can ship to so I can include that in the listing. I figure most of you guys are in the US, but I am not sure.
Once the auction is complete I'll co-ordinate with the winner to verify the donation is made, and send the verification to you along with their address so we can get the pedal shipped.
A quick update on how things are going so far.
- There are three auctions live currently and the high bids total about $475 between them at the moment.
- I think I have about six or seven more cued up, and I think I've seen at least a few more pop up here this weekend.
- I plan on starting auctions every other day, but may move up to every day if I keep getting stuff at this rate and I can find the time to make the post.
I have temporarily take the Ukrainian Red Cross off the donation list while I look into some things that were shared with me on instagram, so there may be some changes to organizations listed as our focus, but I don't know yet.
But again, I can't thank you guys enough for getting involved, this is awesome!
Alright, so quick update. First auction is done, and the donation has been made. We raised $420 (!!!) for the World Central Kitchen. I'll drop it in the mail as soon as I have confirmation of the shipping address.
I'm going to try and get the next pedal up later today.
I just wanted to post the profile questionnaire you typed up here since it is kind of buried in the other thread:
Profile questions
Name: (real name, user profile, company name, whatever you guys want here is good)
Why DIY:
Person build you like the best:
Favorite non-DIY (commercial) pedal:
What is spinning around your record player now:
Best show ever:
All the: (1 word answer only)

Thanks for doing that, I obviously meant to include that here.
I have everything I need to post the next two auctions, but am having trouble getting a decent idea of what is in the pipeline. If you guys are working on something for this and could take a second to send me an email and let me know what your plan is it would help me plan for the next week or two what will be going on.
Then once I get the bio, pics, and demos I will get everything on the instagram page and get the auctions started. The demos can be quick and dirty by the way, phone camera stuff is just fine, I hate making them too, but I think they'll help here a lot.
3 pedals down, 3 donations done. We have raised $620 so far.
Thank you gentlemen!
Your auction/action got a highlight with links in today's newsletter from Love My Switches.

Yeah, I'm super pumped about that. I picked up a couple dozen new followers at least from it.
I sent out a couple of press releases today, hopefully we can get some more publicity and bring in more bids.

Cool idea, I have been trying to grow things but it's a challenge for sure. Did you just pull stuff from the Instagram page?
Could let me know who you sent it to and please forward a copy of what you sent out to pedalsforukraine@gmail.com. Also please put me in the loop on replies you get and stuff. I've invested a lot of time in this so far, so I totally appreciate the help.
OK, I sent you an email.
I hope this helps.
I told them to contact pedalsforukraine@gmail.com for more information.
Oops, I just realized there was a confusing typo on the profile questionnaire
It should say
Personal build you like the best (as in your favorite pedal that you have built)
Four builds have been auctioned and are making their way to new homes. We have now raised over $750!!
You guys are awesome!

Yeah, I'd interpreted it as "person's build you like the most." ;D
Um.... guitarworld.com
Holy crap!!
Thank you northcoast!!!!
hopefully that drives some bidding up.
That's beautiful! 8)

That is really cool!
I always figured we would make the pages of GuitarWorld, but we would be mentioned in an article called "The many lives ruined by DIY pedal building." ;D ;D
We are a rogue band of pedal builders!

NorthCoast is the man! His reaching out to some of the big guys is really paying off.
Anybody willing to get in on a zoom call tonight or tomorrow to do a little planning for something that could be a little bigger than what we are doing now, and get some of you guys some exposure?

The Zoom call isn't itself the exposure, is it?
I'm thinking about building and contributing another pedal for the auction. I don't build commercially, so I'm happy keeping a relatively low profile. That said, I'd happily contribute to something bigger.

hahaha, this wouldn't be that kind of zoom call Eric.
no the zoom call would be to plan
I am up and in for whatever.
I'm in too.
Okay, so I'm thinking tomorrow evening after all of you get off work or whatever, but before I have to go to bed. You're six pm EST is my midnight, so probably not much later than that.
You guys think you could maybe swing that?

That sounds good to me. I should be able to do that.
I'm happy to help out with what I can. I'm planning at least one more build for this.

So I can swing anytime between 4 and 7 to do a video call. Can you guys let me know what time would work for you and I'll try to figure out the best time and set it up. If you guys email the pedalsforukraine@gmail.com I can send out a link to the call from there.
Thanks for doing this! I'd built up a couple of Ukrainian themed pedals (with some bits that came out of Ukraine) and have been looking for a good way to give back. You should have the deets now.
Hi all, this has been very successful so far! thanks to everyone's generosity we've already raised over $1500 and there is a bidding war right now that will take us well over 2k.
I'm trying to get a hold on what's ready to go, and it's hard to track between here and instagram and email. If you have stuff ready to got please email pedalsforukraine@gmail.com with pics, a demo, and a brief description of the pedal. That way everything will be in one place for me to track.
Thanks so much guys!! It's amazing that you're all making this happen.
Got a shout on on the Guitar Knobs podcast!
Sorry I have been slow to update this lately. This project has kept me very busy and I haven't been able to hang out here as much as I used to.
At any rate, in addition to all the instagram auctions (~15 so far) we did a big thing over on Reverb.com where a bunch of us built DOD250's and sold them on their for charity. Ended up calling it the PFUKR250 which I borrowed from Bio77's pedal name for the project (simultaneously thanks and I'm sorry about that John). Most have sold now, but you can see pics of them on the instagram page if you are interested. f
All things together so far we've raised over $5000, which is beyond cool.
Huge thanks to anyone who has gotten involved or supported this project. Thank you all!
Thanks, Matthew! This has been really cool to be a part of and I'm stoked it's going well.
Also, I stole the PFUKR from benny_profane or storyboardist, if I recall ;D So, no thanks or apologies needed.
This is so cool. I'm a little bummed to be on the sidelines for the time being but hoping I can pull something off eventually

Same! I lost room for my electronics desk when I moved in January, but have been psyched to watch this project bear fruit from the sidelines.
This project and its growth has been incredible. The support from within the community—builds, encouragement, and the continued momentum—and the response from folks buying the pedals has been really impressive. Thank you to everyone!
A huge thank you to Matthew for putting in so much work to organize, promote, and help us come together.
By the way, I have some more stickers available to anyone that would like to send some out with won auctions. Also, did everyone that already requested them receive them by now?

Yes, I sent them to you a week or two ago. Email me or send me a PM.
This has been a really awesome thing to participate in.
I am new to this DIY pedal building community and have been amazed by how generous all of you are. With your time, knowledge, money, everything. It really has been something being a small part of this and I want to thank everyone who has contributed in any way. I almost feel kind of guilty that I am getting enjoyment out of this considering the reason it all started. However, it just goes to show what a bunch of random people who want to do a little bit of good can do when they put in some effort towards a goal, and that is always inspiring and makes me hopeful for the future.
And while I hope that the need for this particular use of our skills ends as soon as possible, I am always willing contribute more builds down the line.

I would love to have a sticker or two as a keepsake if there are enough available.
Those Reverb event pedals sold fast! The last one is gone now. I wish Reverb would keep the listings on the page with a "SOLD" banner on them so folks could easily see what type of things we offered up.
It seems like the Ukraine drive is over at Reverb. There are no more links to it from the main site.

I'm not seeing anything either. I thought that the campaign was going through the 15th? Matthew mentioned that there are some pending builds.

They are going to the 15th. I have mentioned to them I might add a couple of other things. I think that most if not all of everything they had has sold, which is probably why they took it down.
How many pedals do we have in the queue for the Instagram auctions? I'm hoping to build another, but it will take some time (I need to breadboard it first).
