Title: Pastyface with gate
Post by: andregarcia57 on August 24, 2022, 02:55:25 PM
hello guys, I just built NPN pastyface, it sounds good but I can't through the trimmer make it sound with gate, would there be any way to do this by changing some resistor value?

Hi! That trimmer on the Pastyface isn't truly a bias trimmer and thus won't really do those gated, voltage-starved sounds. It's intended to simulate leakage since Q3 on the MkIII Tonebender likes a leaky one in that position (and presumably Fulltone was using really low-leakage new production germaniums in the Soulbender). The MkII is the one where I've been able to dial in the gating pretty precisely through transistor selection. Also, the silicon Tonebender-based circuits such as the Scarab Deluxe do the gating thing really well.
