Title: Clean Blend?
Post by: thetrend77 on December 27, 2011, 06:55:21 PM
How difficult is it to add a clean blend knob to a project?

For example, I want to build something along the lines of a JHS Pulp n Peel or a Barber Tone Press (a compressor with a volume, comp, and blend knob). So I figured I'd try an Orange Squeezer vero I found, but I wanted to know if anyone could show me how to add a clean blend to it.

This is the vero layout if that helps: http://www.sabrotone.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Orange-Squeezer.gif

Thanks!

Circuits like these work well, i've actually used the one from ROG. If you build it in pedal form rather than included with another circuit you can use it with any pedal.

If you want to include  a blend control with a pedal, check out this thread (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=1463.0) out. It worked very well.

It's just my opinion, but the orange squeezer is one of the more "subtle" compressors out there. I'm not sure you would gain much from adding a blend knob to that circuit.

I have a clean blend project that you can use. Give me some time and it will be up in the member layout area.

check the schem for byo's 5 knob comp. it's got a blend feature and it's a really great compressor.

I haven't tried them yet, but on my to-do list is attempting one of these blend circuits:

or

I want to experiment using one of these with some overdrives. I have a TC Elelctronic Nova Drive that includes a clean blend, and I really like that.

I've got this one in my upcoming projects pile. I've already trimmed the veroboard to size and made the necessary cuts; just have to order a few components from Small Bear.  :)

so will the op-amp based blend circuits work with any effect?   I would like to include it on a bass OD effect.

I haven't tried it with everything, but I don't see why it wouldn't.
