Title: Transistor Question
Post by: skypn on April 22, 2024, 06:28:47 PM
Consider this schematic.

If one mistakenly installed a 1K resistor instead of an 100K for R4, what are the odds that would result in damage to Q1?
TIA

If everything else is connected correctly R4 is sending negative feedback to Q1. It'll just be guitar signal. That's a lot of negative feedback, so the signal could be pretty weak, but it won't break anything.

It's almost impossible to break a transistor through mis-biasing or wrong values. I've never had it happen in almost 20 years. You are good!

Wrong voltage? Maybe.

Thank you for helping me eliminate a variable.
