Title: Saguaro Wah
Post by: Bret608 on January 13, 2025, 05:01:50 PM
First off, major thanks to Blackhatboojum for sharing this board with me! I got the itch to do a wah just after the Weener went out of stock a while back. I had been modding this old Crybaby I picked up but realized the jacks weren't going to last much longer. So this incorporates what I settled on for mods but also just replicates what I liked in the pedal, which was from 1993 as far as I could date it. Things I kept: Lower-gain Q1 (used BC547b) with 390r emitter resistor (I went with BC549c for Q2). Mods: 47k Q resistor, 1.8k mids resistor, and 56k input resistor. With the yellow Fasel, it's very vocal and mellow, but still with a bit of focus. Works well with my all-Fender guitar and amp setup and is a nice middle ground between the Vox and Thomas Organ sounds. Loves to be in front of fuzz as well!

Oh snap!  I haven't been on the forums much lately and almost missed this.  Thanks for the shout out but more importantly, excellent work!

No worries, I fully understand that life happens! Trust me, I had more or less zero time for music and related hobbies last year. Finishing this build already makes me feel like this year is off on a better foot.  :)
